UFC FN 38′s Alexander Gustafsson: “I’m Better Than I Was When I Fought Jon Jones”
By FCF Staff
Since Alexander Gustafsson’s thrilling and competitive decision loss to Jon Jones at UFC 165, fans have been calling for a rematch between the two light-heavyweights, but each man will have to get by other opponents first. The champion Jones will have to defend his belt versus Glover Teixeira on April 26th, while Gustafsson will have to get by Jimi Manuwa this Saturday at UFC FN 38.
Although Gustafsson (15-2) will be the favourite when he steps into the Octagon on March 8th, the Swedish fighter insisted on “UFC Tonight” he’s not looking past Manuwa.
“I don’t want to look past Jimi, he’s a really dangerous guy and a lot of people don’t know about him. I know that. I’m not looking past him,” Gustafsson said on the FOX Sports 1 program.
Manuwa (14-0) isn’t currently ranked in the UFC’s top ten rankings, but the noted finisher has gone 3-0 with the promotion and has stopped all 14 of his opponents to date.
“I’ve done my homework. I’m ready to go,” Gustafsson said while discussing Manuwa. “I’ve had the best camp ever. I’m better than I was when I fought Jon Jones. Whatever he does, I’ll have an answer for it.”
UFC FN 38 will be hosted by London’s O2 Arena and will be broadcast in North America via UFC Fight Pass.
