UFC FN 39: Dan Henderson Weighs in on Rematching “Shogun” Rua, Recent TRT Ban
By FCF Staff
In November, 2011, fans were treated to an epic war between “Shogun” Rua and Dan Henderson, which saw the latter emerge with a unanimous decision win. Now, as “Hendo” gets set to battle Rua for a second time, Sunday night at UFC FN 39, the 43 year-old concedes he’s more prepared for what challenges lay ahead.
While speaking to “UFC Tonight” about the March 23rd bout, Henderson stated:
“I know what to expect a little more. We’ve both been fighting for so long, it’s not like we haven’t seen each other fight. We’ve both know what to expect out of each other. My game plan might have changed a just a tad since the last fight.”
Recently the Nevada State Athletic Commission announced it was banning TRT exemptions in its jurisdiction, and since then, other states have followed suit. When asked for his opinion on the issue, Henderson, who has been issued exemptions fort TRT in recent years, stated:
“I haven’t given it a lot of thought. I’m focused on this fight. I guess I’ll have to explore some more natural ways of dealing with things. I’ve fought a long time. I’ve never abused it. I feel like they really should have implemented random drug testing, instead of going after people who are applying for it. A lot of guys are abusing a lot of other things, but wouldn’t get away with it if they were tested.”
UFC FN 39 will be hosted by the Nelio Dias Gymnasium in Natal, Brazil.
