Following his unanimous decision victory over Jeremy Stephens at UFC Fight Night 44, which marked his six consecutive win, Cub Swanson is hoping to rematch featherweight champ Jose Aldo.

The 30 year-old fighter, who was quickly stopped by Aldo a WEC 41 back in 2009, told FOX Sports 1 after Saturday’s win (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“I want to fight Aldo. I want to be the guy to dethrone the legend,” said Swanson (21-5), who has gone 8-2 since facing Aldo. “But I want the gold, so I’ll fight whoever the champion is.”

“I feel great about the win. It was great to have a battle every round. I kept telling myself I could do better each round.”

Aldo is scheduled to rematch Chad Mendes at UFC 176 on August 2nd, who the champ KO’d in January, 2012.

The 27 year-old Aldo, meanwhile, has won nine straight fights since he faced Swanson five years ago.
