Cub Swanson is within reach of a title shot, thanks to a five fight win streak, but the featherweight knows he’s going to have his hands full at UFC Fight Night 44. On Saturday, Swanson will face former lightweight Jeremy Stephens, who has recorded several highlight reel stoppages during his career.

While speaking to UFC.com recently about tomorrow’s headliner, here is what Swanson had to say about Stephens and his aggressive approach:

“He’s been growing the last couple fights, adding a couple things to his arsenal. I do study film, but he always fights basically the same way – he always brings it and he always throws everything he’s got every time. He’s going to try to knock my head off. He might try to take me down, might try to smother me, but whatever game plan his coaches come up with for me, at the end of the day, his fighting style is trying to take my head off.”

Stephens (23-9) is coming off wins over Estevan Payan, Rony “Jason” and Darren Elkins since moving to featherweight.

Swanson (20-5), meanwhile, has scored victories over Ross Pearson, George Roop, Charles Oliveira, Dustin Poirier and Dennis Siver, since he was defeated by Ricardo Lamas in 2011.

UFC FN 44 will be hosted by the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas.
