UFC FN 49: Max Holloway to Fight Clay Collard After Mirsad Bektic’s Late Withdrawal
By FCF Staff
Just days out from UFC Fight Night 49 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the promotion has announced that Mirsad Bektic has been forced to withdraw from the event due to injury.
The featherweight had been booked to take on Max Holloway at the August 23rd card. The nature of Bektic’s injury was not disclosed in the official announcement.
Stepping in for Bektic will be UFC newcomer Clay Collard (13-4), who is coming off a decision win over Nicholas Compton in July. Collard has 4 wins and 1 no contest in his last 5 scraps.
Since Collard has agreed to face Holloway on such short notice, the fight will be contested at a catch-weight of 149 pounds.
Holloway (9-3), meanwhile, has scored stoppage wins over Will Chope and Andre Fili in his last two bouts. The featherweight is 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.
UFC FN 49 will be headlined by a lightweight fight between Benson Henderson and Rafael dos Anjos.
