UFC FN 57: Cub Swanson Promises “I’ll be Back” After Submission Loss

By FCF Staff

Cub Swanson lost his short term opportunity to fight for the UFC’s featherweight title last night in Austin, but the rugged vet is reporting he’s okay, following his one sided defeat versus Frankie Edgar.

Early on into their UFC Fight Night 57 headliner, Swanson was able to defend Edgar’s takedown shots, and appeared to land several hard strikes. But, as the fight wore on, Edgar repeatedly took the fight to the mat, and punished him from above, before catching the featherweight with a fifth round, neck crank.

After the loss, which was Swanson’s first in seven bouts, the 31 year-old fighter tweeted:

The only other men who have defeated Swanson in his last 10 fights are fellow contenders Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas. During his six fight win streak the Jackson’s MMA fighter scored stoppage wins over vets like Ross Pearson, Dennis Siver and George Roop.
