After being stopped by Matt Brown in May, in what was one of the year’s best scraps, Erick Silva says an improved welterweight will square off with Mike Rhodes at UFC Fight Night 58.

Silva will face Rhodes at Saturday’s event, which will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The bout will be Silva’s third of the campaign, as prior to facing Brown, the noted finisher KO’d Takenori Sato in February.

Recenty, Silva (16-5) spoke with UFC.com about his upcoming fight with Rhodes, as well as his thrilling war with Brown. Here is some of what “Indio” had to say about the defeat, and what has transpired since the loss.

“In MMA, the end result doesn’t always say the real facts of what the fight was,” Silva said. “I am working along with my team to improve my techniques, and I am sure that the positive results will come as a consequence.”

The 30 year-old fighter went on to add that he’s hoping to fight “at least four times” in 2015, and that he intends to work his way into the top of the welterweight rankings.

Rhodes (6-3), meanwhile, is looking to rebound from consecutive, decision losses to George Sullivan and Robert Whittaker.
