UFC FN 59’s Conor McGregor: Bold Predictions Based on Analysis, Power, and Enjoying Pressure

Conor McGregor

By FCF Staff

Leading into UFC Fight Night 59, Conor McGregor has said he’ll put away Dennis Siver in less than two minutes, and the rising featherweight has explained why he made the bold prediction.

McGregor has made headlines numerous times since he arrived in the UFC, and his comments about stopping Siver so quickly, have also drawn attention. The Irish fighter appeared on the latest addition of “UFC Tonight“, and when he was asked about his abundant, confidence he stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“I enjoy pressure. I like the feeling and illusion of pressure. Where the prediction has come from, I analyze my opponent. The shot I need to put him away, it’ll happen four or five times over within the first two minutes. It could be the first exchange. The way he moves, he will not take what I give.”

If McGregor defeats Siver, then he’ll almost certainly advance to face featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Although the latter is widely considered to be one of the planet’s best pound-for-pound fighters, McGregor has also repeatedly said he”ll defeat Aldo.

When asked why he believes he’ll be the one to end Aldo’s storied reign, McGregor said:

“I don’t base myself on past people’s attempts. In my mind, I’m a two weight world champion. I vacated those belts when I signed with the UFC. In my mind, I’m simply contesting for those belts again. I’ll dispatch of everyone they put in front of me. I feel different. I’m a much different athlete and my approach is different. For me, it’s another clean sweep. It’ll be as easy as it always is.”

UFC FN 59 will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden Arena on January 18th, and will also feature a lightweight fight between contenders Donald Cerrone and Benson Henderson.
