Following Donald Cerrone’s decision win over Myles Jury on Saturday, the lightweight said he was hoping to fight at UFC FN 60 on February 14th, but “Cowboy” will return to the Octagon sooner than that.

The promotion has announced that Cerrone is stepping in for the injured Eddie Alvarez at UFC FN 59, which will go down on January 18th in Boston. Alvarez was scheduled to fight former champ, Benson Henderson at the event.

The specific details of Alvarez’s injury were not disclosed.

Cerrone and Henderson have fought twice before, during their runs in the WEC. In October, 2009, Cerrone dropped a five round, decision loss to Henderson, and in their 2010, rematch, the latter won once again via first round submission.

Henderson hasn’t fought since August when he was stopped by Rafael dos Anjos in the opening round.
