UFC FN 61: Cezar Ferreira Hope to Secure Top Five Ranking in 2015

Cezar "Mutante"

By FCF Staff

After stumbling against CB Dolloway last March, Cezar Ferreira is hoping to add another win to his record at UFC Fight Night 61, and continue his march towards the top of the promotion’s middleweight division.

Ferreira made headlines back in 2012 by making it to the finals of TUF Brazil 1, and proceeded to win three straight bouts. Last March, however, the buzz surrounding “Mutante” took a hit, when he was quickly knocked out by Dolloway. Ferreira got back on track last June by earning a unanimous decision win over Andrew Craig, and this weekend, he’ll take on rugged vet, Sam Alvey.

Ferreira (8-3) recently spoke to UFC.com about this Sunday’s fight, and while discussing what he’s shown so far in his three year run with the promotion, the Brazilian stated:

“It has been good but it could be better because since I became a UFC fighter I had a lot of injuries that prevented me from doing more fights,” Ferreira said. “So now I’m good. I am in shape and very healthy, and this year I would like to do at least four fights and go into the top five.”

Alvey (24-6) scored a knockout win over Dylan Andrews in his last outing, after he was decisioned by Tom Watson in his UFC debut, which took place in August, 2014.

UFC FN 61 will take place in Porto Alegre, Brazil.
