Since Raphael Assuncao will no longer fight Urijah Faber at UFC Fight Night 62, due to an ankle injury, the UFC has announced that a welterweight bout between Demian Maia and Ryan LaFlare will headline the event.

UFC FN 62 will be hosted by the Maracanazinho Gymnasium in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on March 21st.

Maia (19-6) is coming off a decision win over Alexander Yakovlev last May, after he was decisioned by Jake Shields and Rory MacDonald in consecutive fights.

LaFlare (11-0), meanwhile, earned a UD victory over John Howard in his last outing and has won four straight since joining the UFC.

Maia is currently ranked #7 in the UFC’s welterweight division and LaFlare is positioned at #15.

Some of the other bouts that are booked for UFC FN 62 include Josh Thomson vs. Gilbert Burns, Erick Silva vs. Ben Saunders and Matt Wiman vs. Leonardo Santos.
