Patrick Cummins has worked his way into the UFC’s top ten rankings at 205, but Glover Teixeira believes he has the strategy to defeat the rising fighter at UFC Fight Night 77.

Teixeira will take on Cummins on Saturday night, in what will be the latter’s seventh fight with the UFC. Since Cummins arrived in the promotion last year he’s incurred defeats against champion Daniel Cormier and Ovince Saint Preux, but he’s also scored impressive wins over the likes of Antonio Carlos Jr. and Rafael Cavalcante.

Recently Teixeira spoke to UFC.com about this Saturday’s bout, and while discussing the powerful wrestler, the Brazilian stated:

“He’s learned a lot from his first fights in the UFC, and I see him getting better and better every time,” Teixeira said. “He’s a legit wrestler and his hands are getting better, so I’ve just got to be smart, be quick, and push this guy and try to impress the crowd again. That’s what I need to do and that’s what I want to do, because at this stage I just want to excite the fans. I’m not good at talking all this crap that people talk, so I have to excite the fans by fighting.”

Teixeira, meanwhile, choked out the aforementioned Saint Preux in his last bout, after incurring consecutive defeats to Jon Jones and Phil Davis.

UFC FN 77 will take place in Sao Paulo, Brazil, and will feature a middleweight fight between Vitor Belfort and Dan Henderson.
