UFC FN 81: Patrick Cote’s Confident he Has “The Capacity to go to Another Title Fight”

Patrick Cote may be about to enter the latter half of his thirties, but after going 4-1 in his last 5 fights, the veteran still believes another title shot is within reach.

Cote (22-9) is scheduled to take on Ben Saunders tomorrow at UFC Fight Night 81, which will mark the first time the Canadian has fought since last August, when he stopped Josh Burkman. Recently “The Predator” spoke to UFC.com about Sunday’s bout, and his career, and Cote had this to say:

“The goal is the same – to be the world champion,” said Cote, who fought Anderson Silva back in 2008 when he was the reigning middleweight champ, and lost via TKO due to injury. “I had a chance once, and I know I have the capacity to go to another title fight. I’m 35 years old, I’ll be 36 in February, but I’m still enjoying it.”

The only man to defeat Cote since he returned to the UFC in 2012 is welterweight contender Stephen Thompson, who decisioned him in September, 2014.

Saunders (19-6-2), meanwhile, is riding a three fight winning streak. UFC FN 81 will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden.
