UFC FN 86: JDS Notes “I’m a Boxing Guy And I Have to Keep it There” After One Sided Win

Junior dos Santos

The boxing of Junior dos Santos ruled the day yesterday at UFC Fight Night 86, and the former champ believes it’s those skills in particular, which will lead him back to the heavyweight title.

Dos Santos picked Ben Rothwell apart at yesterday’s event, and the noted pugilist earned a 50-45 x 3, unanimous decision win. While speaking to the media after the one sided bout, JDS stated this (quote via UFC.com):

“I think I’m doing good now because it’s hard,” dos Santos said. “I know I have to improve my skills, not just my boxing but my wrestling and jiu-jitsu. But I’m a boxing guy and I have to keep it there. I’m feeling good and I think this time now we’re putting everything in the right place and that’s why I think I’ll be champion again. And it’s not going to take too long.”

With the win, JDS got back on track, as he was stopped by Alistair Overeem in December. The loss snapped Rothwell’s four fight, winning streak, which included a stoppage victory over Overeem.

UFC FN 86 took place in Zagreb, Croatia.
