Renan Barao will make his featherweight debut tomorrow night at UFC Fight Night 88, and Jeremy Stephens says the former bantamweight champ isn’t ready for what awaits him.

After losing to TJ Dillashaw for a second time last July, Barao (33-3) elected to move up a weight class, and attempt a run at 145 pounds. Although the latter went nearly ten years without losing, and was considered to be one of the greatest fighters on the planet, Stephens (24-12) had this warning (quote via UFC.com):

“He ain’t ready for the ‘Heathen,’ my man. He’s not ready for a guy who’s just as experienced, and has fought champions and top contenders. He’s facing a heavy hitter, a very scary dude, a guy who doesn’t give up, who has heavy hands and heart, and a guy who relishes opportunities like this. This is a great opportunity for me, I’m taking full advantage, and I’m very well prepared for this.”

Stephens is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Max Holloway, after he took out Dennis Bermudez last July. Stephens is currently ranked #9 at 145.

UFC FN 88 will take place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
