John Lineker missed weight on Friday for the fifth time in his UFC career, but the bantamweight contender says an issue with his hotel room scale was responsible.

Lineker came in at 136.5 for his bout last night with John Dodson, which saw the latter lose by split decision. After the win, Lineker had this to say about the fact he missed weight, and whether it should impact his title shot chances (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“I had already made weight, and I was really trying not to drop any lower (but) I was using the scale in my room, and when I got there to the official scale they were different, and I didn’t have any time to make it,” Lineker said. “I don’t think it should (hold me back from a title shot). It was a small mistake I committed. It was a scale problem. I won’t not make weight. I had already made weight, so I don’t think it should be a problem.”

The Brazilian fighter has won six straight bouts and is currently ranked #3 at 135.
