When Jordan Mein steps into the Octagon at UFC on FOX 11,  a year will have gone by since his last performance, when he was stopped by Matt Brown at UFC on FOX 7.

Not only did Mein break his orbital bone in the entertaining battle, but later in the year he tore his MCL, which meant 2013 would come to a close without another bout. Despite having not fought since April 19th, 2013, Mein recently told UFC.com that a new and improved version of himself will face Hernani Perpetuo at UFC on FOX 11.

“I’ve noticed huge (gains) in my technique the last year – training with different guys and seeing my improvement – and then in my body, from having the layoff and not having to cut weight, I’ve actually gained a bit of weight.”

“It’s been kind of nice having the time off,” added the 24 year-old Mein. “Mentally and physically, it has been a good thing – minus the injuries.”

Prior to facing Brown, Mein (27-9) stopped Dan Miller in the opening round at UFC 158, which also marked the Canadian’s UFC debut.

Perpetuo (17-3) will be making his promotional debut on April 19th, after winning Shooto’s welterweight championship last August by decisioning Tommy Depret.

UFC on FOX 11 will be hosted by the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.
