UFC on FOX 12: Matt Brown to Battle Robbie Lawler in Headliner

Lawler

By FCF Staff

Robbie Lawler will continue to have an extremely busy, 2014 campaign, as UFC President Dana White has announced the welterweight will fight fellow contender Matt Brown on July 26th. The announcement comes just days after Lawler took out Jake Ellenberger in the third round at UFC 173.

The welterweight bout will headline UFC on FOX 12, which will be hosted by San Jose’s SAP Center.

Lawler’s (23-10) stoppage win over Ellenberger returned him to the win column, approximately two months after he lost by unanimous decision to champion Johny Hendricks. Since returning to the UFC in 2013, the #1 ranked Lawler has gone 4-1.

Brown (19-11) is also coming off a recent win, as the surging vet stopped Erick Silva earlier this month at UFC FN 40. The welterweight has won seven straight fights and is currently ranked #5.

White also confirmed via Twitter that the winner of the Brown-Lawler fight will advance to a title shot.
