UFC on FOX 16: Anthony Pettis Withdraws Due to Injury
By FCF Staff
Anthony Pettis has been sidelined with another injury, and as a result, the former lightweight champ will not fight Myles Jury at UFC on FOX 16 as scheduled.
The promotion has announced that Pettis has incurred an elbow injury, and that Edson Barboza has stepped into face Jury on July 25th.
Pettis, who is coming off a decision loss to Rafael dos Anjos in March, has competed just twice since 2013.
Barboza (15-3) will be looking to get back on track, after he was decisioned by Michael Johnson in February.
Jury (15-1) is also coming off a decision loss, as he was defeated by Donald Cerrone in January.
Barboza is currently ranked #7 in the UFC’s lightweight division and Jury is positioned at #8.
UFC on FOX 16 will be hosted by Chicago’s United Center and will feature bantamweight champ TJ Dillashwaw taking on Renan Barao.
