UFC on FOX 16 has received a compelling lightweight fight, as the promotion has announced that accomplished vet Joe Lauzon will battle former PRIDE champ Takanori Gomi at the July 25th card. The upcoming event will be hosted by the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Lauzon (24-10) will be looking to get back on track following a stoppage loss to Al Iaquinta in January. The multiple, fight night bonus winner had defeated Michael Chiesa and Mac Danzig in his previous two bouts. The 30 year-old Lauzon has gone 2-3 in his last 5 contests.

Gomi (35-10) hasn’t fought since last September, when he was stopped by Myles Jury in the opening round. “The Fireball Kid” was coming off a UD win over Isaac Vallie-Flagg heading into the bout. The 36 year-old is 3-2 in his last 5 fights.

UFC on FOX 16 will be headlined by a rematch between bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw and former champ Renan Barao.
