Carlos Condit stopped short of announcing his retirement, following his quick loss on Saturday, but the longtime contender is questioning whether he can compete at the upper levels of the sport.

Condit faced  Demian Maia in the main event of UFC on FOX 21, and was quickly submitted by the vaunted grappler. At the post-fight press conference, the former WEC welterweight champ had this to say about his future (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“I don’t know if I have any business fighting at this level anymore,” Condit said. “I’ve been at this for a really long time. The pressure of kind of being one of the top guys for almost a decade, it’s been awesome to be involved in this sport as long as I have. I got to do what I love for a living for a very long time. I don’t know, man. I don’t know if I belong here anymore. We’ll see.”

Following Condit’s split decision loss to now former champ Robbie Lawler in January, the New Mexico fighter reported he wasn’t sure if he’d fight again.
