Kyle Bochniak continues to prepare for his second UFC tilt, and the featherweight’s been doing so, under very different circumstances than those that surrounded his Octagon debut,.

The Massachusetts fighters joined the UFC this past January, and took on Charles Rosa at UFC Fight Night 81. Bochniak stepped in as a replacement opponent, and did so just 11 days after he choked out Taylor Trahan at CES MMA 32, January 8th. Bochniak went on to lose to Rosa by unanimous decision.

“The last fight camp, we didn’t have too long to think about my UFC debut,” Bochniak noted on a recent episode of Full Contact Fighter Radio. “I had just fought the week before. I beat the kid, and then they had a short replacement, I hopped in, stepped up, so I didn’t really have any time for the media obligations, or game-planning, so it was just kind of spur of the moment. Go in there. Put on a good show, and I’m sure I’ll get another opportunity.”

“I did that, and now I have a full fight camp,” added Bochniak, who is booked to fight Enrique Barzola at UFC on FOX 21, August 27th in Vancouver, British Columbia. “Last time I had to cut weight twice. So that was brutal and I was exhausted after the first couple of minutes. But, my conditioning is great, I’m working hard every single day, just grinding, and I’m really, really excited to put on a good show with a full fight camp, to show what I really have to offer.”

In Barzola, Bochniak (6-1) will take on the man who won the TUF Latin America Season 2 competition at 155.  The Peruvian fighter decisioned Horacio Gutierrez last November to win the tourney.

“He’s a come a long way from where he used to be,” Bochniak noted about Barzola. “He’s got a lot of holes in his game but he’s got a mean streak. He’s a real grinder type kid. Very strong. Likes to push the pace. Always looking for that single leg or double leg; trying to get the fight to the mat. I’ve watched a lot of film on him and I have a very good game-plan. I’ve been working on a lot of things for him…”

UFC  on FOX 21 will be hosted by Vancouver’s Rogers Arena. In the main event, Carlos Condit will take on fellow welterweight contender, Demian Maia.
