Although Demetrious Johnson just tied Anderson Silva’s historic title defense record, don’t expect the flyweight champ to start making brash, headline grabbing statements.

Johnson dominated Wilson Reis at UFC on FOX 24 on Saturday, and submitted the contender in the third round with an armbar. The fight marked the tenth time “Mighty Mouse” has defended the flyweight crown.

While speaking to FOX Sports after his latest win, Johnson had this to say about the important of remaining humble (quote via FOX Sports press release):

“It’s an honor” said Johnson, while discussing the fact he’s tied Silva’s record. “I’m going to stay humble, get better, stay healthy and finish the next fight.”

“It’s very important. I’ve been a champion since 2012. Once champion thinks he’s the best, that’s when you get your loss. But I still keep asking my coaches how I can get better. I’m happy. I’m a humble guy. My fighting does the talking.”

The 30 year-old Johnson has finished three of the last five opponents he’s faced. UFC on FOX 24 took place in Missouri, Kansas City.
