UFC on FOX 29: Justin Gaethje Says he Has Just Five Fights Left, Following War With Dustin Poirier
By FCF Staff
Justin Gaethje has done nothing but thrill fans since he arrived in the UFC. But following UFC on FOX 29, it sounds like the former WSOF champ doesn’t plan to fight that much longer.
Gaethje took on Dustin Poirier in the card’s headliner, and as billed, the bout was a thrilling war. Gaethje punished Poirier with leg kicks throughout the fight, but the latter stunned “The Highlight” in round four, and finished the fight.
After the Glendale, Arizona card, Gaethje said the following, while talking to the press (quote via MMA Fighting):
“I’ve got about five fights in me,” Gaethje said. “Before this I said I’ve got six. … I want the biggest fights possible. Coming off two losses, that’s hard to say, but you want to see me fight. But, if you don’t see me fight live, you will regret it when I’m done. It’s not going to be very long. I’ve got five left.”
Gaethje was coming off a KO loss to Eddie Alvarez in December. Poirier, meanwhile, has gone undefeated in four straight fights.
