Dominick Cruz and Conor McGregor scored impressive and quick victories at UFC 178, and both men have benefitted greatly from their performances in terms of the rankings.

Cruz returned to action for the first time in nearly three years on Saturday, and quickly took out bantamweight contender Takeya Mizugaki in the first round. As a result of the victory, Cruz moved up 8 spots in the rankings and now sits at #2. Mizugaki slipped from the #5 position to #6.

Cruz was eventually stripped of the UFC’s bantamweight title after being sidelined from October, 2011, with a series of injuries.

After taking less than two minutes to stop Dustin Poirier, McGregor has jumped from the #9 ranking in the UFC’s 145 division to #5. Poirier dropped two spots and is now #7.

At middleweight, Yoel Romero moved up four spots after stopping the accomplished Tim Kennedy, and is now ranked #6. Kennedy dropped one ranking after the controversial loss, and is #7.

Demetrious Johnson has also benefitted from his win on Saturday, as after submitting Chris Cariaso, the flyweight champ has moved into the #3 slot for the promotion’s pound-for-pound rankings.

Heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez dropped a position and is #4.

And at 155, Donald Cerrone has gained a ranking spot after decisioning Eddie Alvarez, as he’s moved from #5 to #4. Benson Henderson slipped to #5. Alvarez was ranked #14, but has moved up four spots despite the loss and is #10.

The UFC rankings are voted on by a panel of media members following each event.

UFC 178 was hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
