UFC Rankings Update: “Shogun” Rua Drops Out of Top Ten, 205 Rankings
By FCF Staff
The Ultimate Fighting Championship has released its latest rankings, and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua is no longer a top ten ranked light-heavyweight, following his stunning loss to Ovince St. Preux.
Rua was dropped by St. Preux shortly into their UFC Fight Night 56 headliner on Saturday night, and then finished with a series of follow up punches. The defeat was the former champ’s fourth in five fights, and as a result, “Shogun” slipped two positions and is now ranked #11.
St. Preux, who has gone 5-1 since joining the UFC, moved from #10 to #9. Ryan Bader, who is the only man to defeat “OSP” in the Octagon, also advanced a position and is now ranked #7.
Rua’s original opponent for UFC FN 56, Jimi Manuwa, moved from #11 to #10. Manuwa was forced to drop out of the event due to a broken foot.
The UFC has also removed Chan Sung Jung from the featherweight rankings, as the fighter won’t be fighting for two years, as a result of his mandatory military service in South Korea.
Japanese vet, Tatsuya Kawajiri, has moved into the #15 spot as a result of “The Korean Zombie’s” removal.
