By FCF Staff
Following the news that the Ultimate Fighting Championship is suing Wanderlei Silva, the promotion has released a brief statement outlining why.
Recently, Silva accused the UFC of fixing fights, after criticizing the promotion for firing iconic cutman, Jacob “Stitch” Duran. The fighter did not offer any details or evidence regarding his accusation.
According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, the UFC has released the following statement, regarding the lawsuit.
“Zuffa, LLC, dba the Ultimate Fighting Championship, filed suit against Wanderlei Silva in Clark County District Court in Las Vegas last evening based on the false and defamatory statements published by Mr. Silva last week. The company will have no further comment on the matter at this time, and refers all inquiries to its counsel at the law firm Campbell & Williams.”
Silva, who has criticized the UFC repeatedly over the last year or so, hasn’t fought since March, 2013.
