Following a social media rant from Anthony Johnson, whereby the fighter reportedly insulted a woman, the UFC has launched a formal investigation into the incident.

Johnson has deleted the comments he reportedly made on Facebook, but the rant was screen captured before he did. In it, the fighter claimed he had thrown a woman’s yoga mat across a gym he was working out at. Johnson was upset about the fact that she was stretching in the weight lifting area, and also claimed that the woman had insulted him as well. Not long after, Johnson apologized for the outburst.

The UFC has since posted the following statement on the promotion’s official website.

UFC is aware of the situation involving Anthony Johnson. We take these matters seriously and have commenced a formal investigation by a third-party law firm. We will act accordingly once we gather more information.

Johnson, who has faced allegations of domestic violence in the past, is scheduled to fight Jimi Manuwa on September 5th at UFC 191.
