After weeks of speculation regarding the future of Germaine de Randamie as the UFC’s women’s 145 champ, the promotion has announced that the Dutch fighter has been stripped of the title. In addition, it’s been announced that Cris “Cyborg” Justino will battle Megan Anderson for the now vacant, featherweight title at UFC 214.

De Randamie hasn’t fought since February, when received a controversial, decision win over Holly Holm to win the inaugural, 145 title. More recently, the striker reported that she plans to return to 135.

The UFC has released the statement below, regarding the situation:

UFC has informed Germaine de Randamie and her management team that she is being removed as the women’s featherweight champion due to her unwillingness to fight the No. 1 ranked contender, Cris ‘Cyborg’ Justino. Subsequently, top contender Justino will face newly signed Invicta FC featherweight champion Megan Anderson for the UFC women’s featherweight title in the co-main event of UFC® 214: CORMIER vs. JONES 2, July 29 in Anaheim, Calif.

De Randamie’s team has said the fighter will not fight Justino, due to her previous suspension for steroid use. The 2011 suspension marks the only time in the Brazilian star’s career that she was suspended for using PEDs.
