It’s been over nine months since welterweight Chris Clements fought Matt Riddle at UFC 149 last July, and by the time the veteran returns from shoulder surgery, over a year will have elapsed.

Clements required surgery to repair extensive damage in his shoulder and arm, which included a torn rotator cuff and bicep. The 37 year old vet has informed Full Contact Fighter that “recovery going really well” and that he’s “almost 100%.”

Clements (11-4, 1 NC) was submitted by Riddle at UFC 149, however, the latter tested positive for marijuana metabolites following the event and the victory was overturned to a no-contest. In Clements’ Octagon debut, he worked his way to a split decision win over Keith Wisniewski at UFC 145 last April, which was his fifth straight victory at the time.

The Ontario fighter also relayed that he’s hoping to return to action at the UFC’s next card in Toronto, which is expected to take place September 21st.
