The British Association of Mixed Martial Arts continues to round out the line-up for the promotion’s upcoming September 15th event in London, England, as today it has announced that UFC vet Curt Warburton will fight lightweight Lee Wieczorek.
Warburton (10-3) has won three straight fights since he was submitted by Joe Lauzon at UFC Live 4 last June, and most recently the Wolfslair fighter submitted Declan Larkin at Total Combat 46 in March.
During his time in the UFC, Warburton went 1-2, with a win coming over Maciej Jewtuszko, and another loss versus Spencer Fisher.
“It’s great to be back on a BAMMA event. The promotion is doing big things and the recent deal with Channel 5 and 5* is great for UK MMA,” Warburton was quoted saying in a press release from the promotion. “Lee will be a tough opponent, but I will do what I need to do in order to win this fight and hopefully challenge for the Lightweight title in the near future.”
Wieczorek (11-3) is currently riding a six fight win streak and in his last outing, he stopped Paul Rocha while competing for Ultimate Warrior Challenge in June.
“Curt is a great fighter, so I expect nothing less than a war against him. I think it’s going to be a great fight and a true MMA fight, as it could take place on the feet, in the clinch or on the ground,” noted Wieczorek.
BAMMA has also announced that lightweight Jeremy Petley (7-4-1) will fight Dyson Roberts (5-2) at the upcoming September 15th event, which will be hosted by the London Wembley Arena.
