UFC’s Akira Corassani Tells Conor McGregor: “I Hereby Challenge You”

By FCF Staff

Since the August 17th, UFC on FOX Sports 1 has yet to have a bout officially announced for the card, Akira Corassani is apparently hoping to fight rising fighter Conor McGregor at the event. The card, which will be the first to be broadcast on the new FOX network, will be hosted by Boston’s TD Garden.

In a video posted on Corassani’s Youtube page, the Swedish fighter told McGregor that “I hereby challenge you” to a fight at the upcoming event, and further: “I respect you. I respect your team and I respect the Republic of Ireland, but, it’s time to do this.”

Corassani is coming off a unanimous decision win over Robbie Peralta at the UFC on FUEL TV 9 card in Sweden last month to improve his record to 11-3.

McGregor made his Octagon debut that same night and stopped Marcus Brimage in the first round. The former Cage Warriors champion has won  nine straight fights and carries a record of 13-2.

Following the win, which McGregor received “Knockout of the Night” for, UFC President Dana White said he is hoping to book the Irish fighter on the August 17th card.
