Not long after Alexander Gustafsson reportedly questioned what a bout with Anthony Johnson would accomplish, the light-heavyweight has announced he’s willing to fight his fellow contender.

Although Gustafsson has been guaranteed a title shot versus the winner of Jon Jones-Daniel Cormier, the UFC was pushing for the Swedish fighter to compete in the interim. Johnson recently called out the “The Mauler”, however, Gustafsson questioned whether “Rumble” has accomplished enough in the UFC.

Well, Gustafsson has evidently changed his mind, as in a post on the social media platform Mikz, he relayed:

“Anthony Johnson, there is no one hiding from anyone here. We are both professional fighters and fighting is what we do for living. I know it is frustrating not getting response when you are challenging someone, therefore, I will not turn you down. I will be fully recovered within a couple of weeks so anytime in January and forward I will be ready to fight you.

“Now it is up to the UFC to put this fight together. I can’t wait to sign the bout agreement my friend and show you what Battlefield feels like.”

Gustafsson earned a rematch with the champion Jones in March by stopping Jimi Manuwa, however, a knee injury forced him to withdraw from their UFC 178 bout.

Cormier was then booked to fight Jones at the upcoming event, but the latter also injured his knee and the bout will take place at UFC 182.
