Not long after it was revealed that Brian Ortega failed his post-UFC on FOX 12 drug test, the fighter has admitted to taking a banned substance and has apologized for his actions.

Ortega has been suspended for nine months, and fined $2,500 by the California Commission, after testing positive for the steroid drostanolone. The fighter’s July 26th, submission win over Mike de la Torre has also been overturned to a no-contest.

The 8-0 fighter recently posted the following statement on his Instagram account:

Ortega was making his Octagon debut at UFC on FOX 12.
