UFC’s Dana White Says Cub Swanson and Frankie Edgar Should Focus on Fight, Not Conor McGregor
By FCF Staff
Since Dana White argued that awarding Conor McGregor a title shot makes sense, there’s been a general consensus that the rising featherweight will challenge Jose Aldo next, if he gets by Dennis Siver on January 18th. Cub Swanson recently relayed, however, that he’s been promised a shot at Aldo, if he defeats Frankie Edgar on November 22nd.
Well, in a recent interview with UFC.com, White relayed that nothing’s been determined, as far as the 145 title shot picture. The UFC President stated:
“I told Cub and Frankie, ‘Don’t worry about anything you hear with all the Conor McGregor talk and all the other stuff. You worry about Cub Swanson and you worry about Frankie Edgar.’” White said. “Believe me, the fact that people are arguing over who should get a title shot in the 145-pound division isn’t a bad thing. It’s a good thing.”
Ultimately, the #1 contender spot could be determined by who records the most impressive and memorable victory. Edgar and Swanson will battle in Austin, Texas, while McGregor and Siver will fight in Boston.
The champion Aldo, meanwhile, is coming off a thrilling, decision win over Chad Mendes on October 25th.
