UFC’s Geane Herrera Taking Break From Fighting to Address Financial Issues
By FCF Staff
Coming off his loss to Ali Bagautinov at UFC Fight Night 89 in July, Geane Herrera has announced he’s taking a break from fighting, so he can address a financial shortfall.
The 26 year-old, who was decisioned by Bagautinov, recently appeared on MMA Junkie Radio. During the interview, Herrera stated (quote via MMA Junkie.com):
“I pray to God that is not permanent, because I don’t have much going for me other than fighting. But I’m really far behind on bills. I don’t even have a car – I have to get around on a motorcycle. So I’m just trying to get my life together, trying to provide for my son. And then I’ll start paying my coaches and make my way back into the gym.”
Herrera has gone 1-2 to date in the UFC. Prior to facing Bagautinov, he stopped Joby Sanchez at the TUF 22 Finale in December.
