UFC’s Jon Jones Relays “I am Not a Cocaine Addict” in New Interview
By FCF Staff
Aside from the statement he released, announcing he was entering a drug treatment facility, the MMA world had yet to hear from Jon Jones since news of his failed drug test broke.
The UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion evidently spoke with FOX Sports recently, however, and the interview is scheduled to air on FOX Sports Live, Monday night. In a sneak preview the network has released, Jones relays:
“I am not a cocaine addict by any means, or I am not a frequent user. I just made a really dumb decision and I really got caught with my pants down in this whole situation.”
Jones tested positive for cocaine metabolites in a out-of-competition drug test last month, but the test’s results, weren’t made public until after UFC 182. Jones worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Daniel Cormier at the January 3rd event.
On Saturday, the UFC announced that it has fined Jones $25,000 for violating the promotion’s Athlete Code of Conduct Policy.
