By FCF Staff
Khabib Nurmagomedov has done nothing but impress since he arrived in the UFC, and although he wasn’t able to fight fellow contender Donald Cerrone at UFC 178, the lightweight wants his title shot.
Nurmagomedov, who is currently recovering from the knee injury that prevented him from fighting Cerrone, appeared on the latest episode of “UFC Tonight“. When asked who he wants to fight next, “The Eagle” stated (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):
“After Gilbert Melendez, I’m the next number-one contender. I’m 6-0 in UFC, 22-0 overall. I deserve my title fight.”
Since arriving in the UFC, the accomplished sambo competitor has scored wins over Kamal Shalorus, Gleison Tibau, Thiago Tavares, Abel Trujillo, Pat Healy and most recently Rafael dos Anjos.
Nurmagomedov is currently ranked #2 in the UFC’s lightweight division.
The #1 ranked Melendez will fight champion Anthony Pettis on December 6th.
