Lavar Johnson will be out of action for at least nine months, as the 35 year-old heavyweight has reportedly been handed a nine month suspension by the California State Athletic Commission, due to allegedly failing his post UFC 157 drug test.

Recently it was reported that Johnson had been flagged for an elevated testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio, following his unanimous decision loss to Brendan Schaub on February 23rd, and a follow up test has apparently confirmed the results.

According to a report from MMA Junkie, which cited the CSAC as a source, Johnson had an elevated T/E ratio of 6.6-to-1. The allowable limit is 4 to 1.

The powerful striker will also be fined, however, the amount has not been determined yet.

Prior to his loss to Schaub, Johnson (17-7) was tapped out by Stefan Struve at UFC 146 last May, after scoring back-to-back wins over Pat Barry and Joey Beltran.
