Urijah Faber Would “Have to Consider” Taking Fight With T.J. Dillashaw

It’s been nearly a year since Urijah Faber hung up the gloves, but the Team Alpha Male leader says he would pick up the phone, if the UFC came calling about a fight with T.J. Dillashaw.

Dillashaw is coming off a second round, stoppage win over Faber’s teammate, Cody Gabrandt, which took place this past weekend at UFC 217. With the win, Dillashaw reclaimed the bantamweight title he lost to Dominick Cruz in January, 2016.

Since then, Faber appeared on the latest “MMA Hour”, and when asked if he’d come out of retirement to battle his former teammate and friend, “The California Kid” said this (quote via MMA Fighting):

“It’s unbeknownst to me if anyone’s asking for that, calling for that, or offering that. I haven’t heard it. I would have to consider that if they came and talked to me. There’s one thing I know for sure is, I’m not afraid of a good fight and I enjoy it and I like making money. But I would hate for that to be the focus rather than Cody getting back in there and getting his shot to redeem himself, because he’s been the guy who’s been there on the front lines. He’s been the guy who’s been putting in the time to be the world champion right now, and I’ve retired.”

Following Dillashaw’s win on Saturday, he called for a bout with flyweight champ, Demetrious Johnson. UFC President Dana White has endorsed that proposed bout, several times.
