VFC 54: More Bouts Announced For December 9 Card

By Press Release

An action-packed pair of title fights highlights the loaded lineup that has been set for Victory Fighting Championship’s VFC 53: Pitolo vs. Kayne 2 taking place on Friday, December 9th at the Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.

Topping the marquee is the title bout that was locked in when VFC’s #3Shows30Days blitz was announced back in September. It is the hotly anticipated rematch for the welterweight title as newly crowned champion Maki “Coconut Bombz” Pitolo (10-1) of Nanakuli, Hawaii, squares off against destiny-minded rival and Omaha native Kassius “Killa Kayne” Holdorf (8-3). Their original matchup was at VFC 52 with Pitolo taking a decision verdict and the title, but Holdorf, a short-notice replacement, earned his second shot by going the distance in an all-out riveting battle.

A second title bout will also top the VFC 53 card – this one with heaps of extra incentive for both fighters involved.

Ryan “Are You Ready?” Roberts (21-12) goes for featherweight gold in his home town of Omaha against Rob “The Saint” Emerson (18-11, 1 NC), the reigning VFC bantamweight champ who looks to become a two-division champion.

Roberts has won five of his last six outings with 11 finishes punctuating his career log. Emerson, who has come out victorious in six of his last seven bouts, captured the title at VFC 51 with a second-round submission over Shawn West.

Six other bouts have been set for the VFC 54 card including a matchup for Omaha native Terrence Almond (2-1) who will look to build upon a 35-second submission win registered back in June as he takes on Hawaii’s Arnold Berdon (4-1) in a bantamweight clash.

Three lightweight fights are slated for the card with one pitting Bellevue, Nebraska’s Troy Nawrocki against Sioux Falls, South Dakota native Logan McPadden. Nawrocki, who went 5-1 as an amateur, notched his first pro win with a second-round submission over at VFC: Fight Night at Harrah’s 4.

Also in lightweight action, Pete “The Joker” Petties (4-1) of Columbia, Maryland, meets Bernard Thomas (3-1) of Kansas City, Missouri. Petties has won three of his last four – all by knockout. Thomas suffered his first loss in a decision verdict at VFC 49, but had posted a third-round knockout and a first-round submission prior to his first pro defeat.

Rounding out the lightweight hopefuls, Sioux Falls’ Bryce Logan (4-2) goes for a fourth win in five outings as he toes the line against Hawaii’s Robby “Supernatural” Ostovich (3-2-1).

In another prelim tilt, Devin “Tic Tac” Turner (3-3) from Sioux Falls goes for a second straight win stepping in against Sodiq Yusuff (2-0), a Bladensburg, Maryland, product who picked up a decision victory at VFC 52.
