Vitor Belfort Says Talk of Bout With Michael Bisping “All Rumors”

Belfort

In response to recent reports and rumors that he will fight Michael Bisping at UFC 156, Vitor Belfort has relayed that the bout is far from signed. The 35 year-old-veteran, who is coming off a submission loss to light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones last month, posted on Twitter:

I don’t have anything confirmed about fighting Bisping. It’s all rumors. When I know about it will let you guys know.

Prior to the loss to Jones, Belfort (21-10) recorded stoppage wins over Anthony Johnson and Yoshihiro Akiyama, after getting knocked out by middleweight champ Anderson Silva last February.

The 33 year-old Bisping (23-4) returned to the winner’s circle at UFC 152, by working his way to a unanimous decision win over Brian Stann. In January, Bisping dropped a tightly contested, unanimous decision loss to former number one contender Chael Sonnen.

Recently Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares mentioned Bisping as a possible opponent for the champion, if a “superfight” with Georges St. Pierre doesn’t materialize. UFC President Dana White has also relayed that rising middleweight Chris Weidman is a top candidate for a title shot.
