Wanderlei Silva Unsure How Much Time He Has Left

By Michael Hatamoto

Wanderlei Silva meets former middleweight champion Rich Franklin in the main event of UFC 147 this Saturday in Brazil.

Silva said his future could hinge on his performance in the rematch with Franklin.  Both fighters are known for their standup skills, but similar to their first matchup, the fight could go anywhere.  Silva is a brawler with good Muay Thai, while Franklin is a more technical boxer with heavy hands.

“I feel good,” Silva told MMA Fighting during a recent phone interview.  “I train good.  I go with the young guys I have here.  I feel very good, but I train for one fight at a time.  For how long?  I don’t know, but the performance is going to tell.  That will show whether I can still fight or not.”

Silva is an MMA legend – and if he decides to hang them up after his rematch with Franklin, the former PRIDE superstar will be remembered as one of the fiercest fighters of all time.  Although his UFC career didn’t go quite as well as he would have liked, he has remained a fan favorite.

Once he leaves the cage for good, he still has other business opportunities available to him.
