Warrior’s Cup Explodeswith Top Muay Thai Matches

Press Release from the event’s promoter:

WARRIOR’S CUP EXPLODES
WITH TOP MUAY THAI MATCHES

On Saturday, September 9th, 2000 the UCI Bren Center in Irvine, CA will host the inaugural show of the Warrior’s Cup of America. Promoted by Lowkick productions, the fights will be contested under California Muay Thai rules with some fights sanctioned by the World Kickboxing Association.

The main event features a super showdown between 6-time world kickboxing champion (in three different weight divisions) Danny "Hard as" Steele (USA), 45-5, against Thai legend Coban Lookchaomesaithong. Coban, who is 33, is best remembered for winning the prestigious Lumpinee stadium (Thailand’s top Muay Thai venue) championship SEVEN TIMES, his four epic battles with Dutch Muay Thai superstar Ramon Dekker and a career that boasts over 190 fights.

The co-main events include Maurice Travis from the USA versus Emanuel N’Toh (Manu) from France (both World Muay Thai Council (WMTC) world champions), Ben Garcia (USA) against Richard Kostuck (USA) as well as bouts featuring Duane "Bang" Ludwig and Walter "Sleeper" Michelowski.

Coming fresh on the heels of the K-1 USA show in Las Vegas promoters Stephen Quadros and Jason Luevan are more than optimistic about the public’s embracing the resurging standup sport. Quadros states, "This card has to potential to be the greatest night in American kickboxing history."
