Weight Not an Issue for Paul Daley Despite Earlier Claims of Cutting 40lbs

Daley

By FCF Staff

Despite having missed weight several times throughout his career, and alleging to reporters that he was going to have to  cut 40 pounds in 24 hours for his Ringside MMA bout tonight with Luigi Fioravanti, Paul Daley did indeed make weight yesterday in Montreal.

Both the powerful slugger and his welterweight opponent Fioravanti came in at 170.4 pounds for their main event tilt tonight, which will be hosted by Montreal’s Bell Centre.

Daley (28-11-2) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Jordan Radev at BAMMA 7 in September, after dropping back-to-back bouts to Tyron Woodely and Nick Diaz under the Strikeforce banner.

While discussing his weight on Wednesday, Daley stated he was going to have to cut 40lbs to make weight Thursday, and added that he “might have to chop something off”. Two days removed from his claim, Daley announced on his Facebook account today that he’s sitting at 189lbs.

Fioravanti (22-10) has dropped two losses in a row while facing Andrei Semenov and most recently Joe Doerksen, after winning five straight.

Here are the weigh-in results for Ringside MMA 12.
