Welterweight Matthew Riddle signs deal with Legacy Fighting Championship.

Matt Riddle

By Timothy J. Gilbert

Former UFC welterweight Matthew Riddle recently announced the finalization of his deal with Legacy Fighting Championship. Riddle (7-3-0 2NC), a contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 7, was released by the Ultimate Fighting Championship in February after failing a drug test for a second time.

Riddle announced the name of his new employers via Twitter:

“Yep I’m fighting @legacyfighting can’t wait it’s gonna be a blood bath”

There has been no information released regarding the date of Riddle’s debut.

Riddle’s last fight occurred in February, and was a split decision victory over Che Mills. The decision was later overturned due to Riddle’s failed drug test.

After the failed test, the UFC released Riddle on the grounds that this was his second failed test. Riddle has a medical marijuana license in Nevada, yet the UFC still took action.

Legacy Fighting Championship airs live on AXS TV. Its next event takes place on April 12 at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas.
