With Daniel Strauss Injured, Pat Curran Fighting Shabulat Shamhalaev April 4th
By FCF Staff
With Daniel Strauss sidelined due to a broken hand, Bellator has announced that recent featherweight tourney winner Shabulat Shamhalaev will fight champion Pat Curran, April 4th in Atlantic City.
The title fight will be hosted by the Revel’s Ovation Hall and will be broadcast on SPIKE TV.
Curran (18-4) is coming off a split decision win over Patricio Freire in January, after knocking out Joe Warren last March to become the Bellator featherweight champ.
Shamhalaev (12-1-1) entrenched a title fight at the recent Bellator 90 card by stopping Rad Martinez. The noted striker advanced to the tourney finale with stoppage wins over Mike Richman and Cody Bollinger.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney announced the new title fight via Twitter.
