Rich Franklin and Wanderlei Silva have been signed to a somewhat unexpected rematch, as a result of a broken hand that has forced Vitor Belfort out of his scheduled bout with Silva on June 23d. The UFC announced the new bout today, which will headline the upcoming UFC 147 card in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.

Franklin, who was originally set to face Cung Le at UFC 148 on July 7th, hasn’t competed since last February when he lost by unanimous decision to Forrest Griffin at UFC 126. Prior to the defeat the 37 year-old vet and former middleweight champion knocked out Chuck Liddell at UFC 115 in June, 2010.

Franklin and Silva fought once before at UFC 99 in June, 2009, and the Franklin was awarded the UD victory in what was a competitive fight.

The 35 year-old Silva (34-11) is coming off a second round stoppage of the aforementioned Le at UFC 139 in November, after being knocked out by Chris Leben at UFC 132 last July.

The UFC has confirmed that the upcoming Silva, Franklin bout will be contested at 190 pounds and that it will be a five round fight.
