World Jiu-Jitsu Expo Confirms Nick Diaz Competing in “Superfight”

By FCF Staff

Although it remains to be seen if and when Nick Diaz will compete again in MMA, the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo has announced that the Cesar Gracie black belt will participate in one of the event’s “superfights” on May 12th.

Who Diaz will face has not been determined.

The World Jiu-Jitsu Expo will be hosted by the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, California.

Some of the BJJ stars scheduled to give free seminars at the event include Robert Drysdale, Roger Gracie, Andre Galvao and Braulio Estima.

Following Diaz’s unanimous decision loss to current UFC welterweight interim champ Carlos Condit in February, the outspoken fighter announced that he was retiring from the sport.

Since then, however, Gracie has hinted that Diaz will eventually fight again, and his teammate Jake Shields has also stated that he believes the welterweight’s retirement is not permanent.

The UFC 143 loss to Condit ended Diaz’s eleven fight win streak, which included victories over noted vets like BJ Penn, Paul Daley, Hayato Sakurai, KJ Noons and Frank Shamrock.
