World Series of Fighting 14 will unfold in Edmonton, Alberta tomorrow night, and one of the card’s most established fighters is featherweight Chris Horodecki. While chances are many fans won’t recognize his opponent Luis Huete, Horodecki says he isn’t looking past the 6-1 fighter.

“You know it just motivates me. You know what I mean?” Horodecki said on this week’s edition of Full Contact Fighter Radio, when asked how he copes with the pressure of being a favorite heading into the bout. “Motivates me that he’s trying to take something away from me.”

“I’ve been in this game for too long man, I’ve seen it all, I’ve been there and done that and I’m not going to let anybody walk over me,” furthered the 27 year-old Horodecki (20-5-1), who made his pro debut back in 2005. “It just motivates me in my training room. It motivates me in my camp, and I’m really excited about this show.”

Huete made his pro debut in 2008, but after incurring a loss to Diego Wilson in 2009, the Calgary fighter didn’t compete again until 2014. Since returning to action, the featherweight has recorded three straight wins.

“He’s coming up in the circuit and he’s going to be a tough opponent,” said Horodecki, when asked about Huete. “He’s riding some momentum right now. He was out of the game for a bit but he’s back now. He’s going to use this as a big opportunity for him and I’m just not going to let him. I’m nobody’s stepping stone and nobody’s going to make a name off of me. I’m expecting his best and I’m going to bring it.”

Horodecki will be making his WSOF debut on Saturday night, and it will mark the first time he has fought, since he lost a unanimous decision to Marlon Sandro at a Bellator event in March. The defeat followed Horodecki’s submission win over Tim Smith in July, 2013, and his decision victory over Frank Carabello last October.

“I feel good. Everything was going well. (Against) Marlon, I didn’t pull the trigger enough; kind of waited too much,” the London, Ontario resident said, when asked to comment on his most recent performances. “I thought it was even going into the third and I ended up slipping on a takedown attempt, getting caught on the bottom; it is what it is.”

“It’s the fight game; that’s how it’s played, but I’m still riding good momentum, I did a great camp,” furthered Horodecki, who once again spent time training at Tristar in Montreal, in addition to the Adrenaline Training Center in London. “Fortunately this fight wasn’t that long ago, four, five months ago, so it’s not that big of a layoff. I don’t really like that where there’s six to eight months before camps. It’s too long. So I’m fresh, I’m in the gym, I have a lot of good things going on in my life, so I’m in a good spot right now and I’m ready man. I’m ready to showcase my skills.”

WSOF 14 will be hosted by the Edmonton Expo Centre at Northlands in Edmonton, and will feature a welterweight fight between Jake Shields and Ryan Ford in the main event.

The main card will be broadcast throughout the U.S. on the NBC Sports Network and TSN 2 in Canada.
